First Look At A Christmas Story Christmas.. And Meh

A Christmas Story will go down as one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. On the other hand, the first look at its sequel has so far proven to be less stellar and definitely less to go on. We were hoping to get something a bit more than a clip of Ralphie putting his glasses on and a bunch of audio clips from the first movie, but that’s exactly what we got. Not a lot to go on, so I guess it can only get better from here.

Goonies TV Show ‘Our Time’ To Mirror 1989 Raiders Of The Lost Ark Fan Film

Earlier this year, Disney+ announced they were producing a new TV series inspired by the classic 80s film ‘The Goonies’ that is  titled ‘Our Time’. The storyline centers on a teacher who helps her students recreate the Richard Donner-directed movie The Goonies, shot-for-shot. While its exciting that this show might be made, you might be interested that this new tv series was actually inspired by another movie besides Goonies! Do you recall a pretty well know Movie called Raiders Of The Lost Ark? What ties these two movies together is that back in the mid 1980s, some boys decided to make a shot-for-shot fan film remake of Raiders Of The Lost Ark.  The fan film which many are not familiar with is titled Raiders of the Lost Arc: The Adaptation.  It was finally  released in 1989 after six years of production utilizing anything the creators could find in their backyards, garages, or loaned by friends.  The fan film was later released in 2014 after a Kickstarter campaign, where it went on to receive lots of praise at  festivals and within Indiana Jones fan communities. There’s even a movie about the making of the adaptation called Raiders!, which follows the film creators as they complete the final scene in their film decades later. But getting back to the Goonies show title ‘Our Time’ – this show is going to follow in the same style the Raiders Of The lost Ark fan film did, but this time its being produced by Warner Brothers and will stream on Disney+.  Currently, the series is still under development, and Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about the project. However, the shows writer, Sarah Watson provided some details on the series’ concept and how they got the idea from the Raiders! fan film,  in an interview she did with Variety.com “This is a partnership between me, Amblin, and Lauren Shuler Donner. When I was at Paramount, there were these young boys doing this movie about “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” a shot-by-shot remake. It got some press at the time, and the studio was very upset about it. I thought it was an amazing idea, and it always stood in my head of — how can you take an idea like that and turn it into a TV series? We needed a terrific writer and great partners, so we brought the idea to Amblin and those guys loved it. Sarah Watson is our creator. The series is a story of a town and a family in the lens of “Friday Night Lights,” and within that they tell a story of a shot-by-shot remake of “The Goonies.”  We had to go to Warner Bros., to Toby Emmerich, and ask if we could have rights [to “The Goonies”]. They said yes, obviously, because of Mr. Spielberg and the Donners. We’re now doing this for Disney Plus.” variety.com Although we don’t have much to go on for the Our Time.  Ill link to where you can watch the Raiders!  documentary about the fan film the boys made to tide you over.  Lets just hope Disney and Warner Brothers get going soon on making Our Time..  Cause its time for another Goonies comeback!

The Oregon Trail Is Being Made Into A Live-Action Movie Musical

You might have a wave of nostalgia blast through your mind at the mere mention of The Oregon Trail, which was a PC game that originally came out in 1971, but was made popular because of how many kids played it in their school computer class.  Its had a few revivals and is still fondly remembered by Gen-Xers when they see it, but this latest news is a bit different. Apparently its being made into a Movie Musical with the game concept being made into a fully fledged film experience. Almost like you were thrown right into 19th century pioneer life as you sing songs about dysentery and try to survive a cross country migration in a real life film. This might be a train wreck.. I mean wagon wreck I have to check out when it hits theaters.. Or where ever it ends up streaming.

Masters Of The Universe Eternia Set Being Crowd Fund By Mattel

Calling All Masters Of The Universe Fans –  You now have a chance to relive your childhood, especially if you missed out on getting the Masters Of The Universe Eternia Playset as a kid. The original playset was considered a flop when it was released in the 1980s, partly due to timing, but many years later, if you have the original set, it’s a very sought after toy. If you didn’t get one, Mattel is doing a crowd funding campaign for a upgraded version of the huge toy playset that will start on October 12th. This coincides with He-Man’s 40th birthday, and the playset is officially announced as the Masters Of The Universe Origins Eternia Playset. It stands 3 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and has Eternia Tower flanked on each side by Grayskull Tower and Viper Tower. Also, much like the original playset, it features a working battle tram, elevators, trap doors, and a lot more that fans will be happy to see. Mattel has said that they need at least 5000 backers to start the production, and this huge set is going to run you about 550 dollars plus about 50 dollars for shipping if you want in on the deal.   The offer will run until November 9th, according to PopInsider.com, but if its funded by October 19th, Mattel said they will throw in a limited edition King Grayskull figure to sweeten the deal!! If He-Man Wrote A Fantasy Novel, It Might Be This..

It’s not every day that you read something that is totally out of this world and still really brings you home – like home to the 1980s. Tommy And The Order Of Cosmic Champions is one such book that might do just that. When I first picked this book up, I wasn’t sure what to expect; something akin to He-Man or Conan I guess. What I quickly found out was that this was just the sort of book I wish I had found when I was a kid, which being a child of the 80s, was many years ago! Tommy and the Order Of Cosmic Champions felt like the 80s, it encompassed so many great memories of the 80s, and for me, this book was the seminal coming of age fantasy book that has some really deep and thoughtful moments. Here’s a short synapsis of Order Of Cosmic Champions: When life supplies eleven-year-old Tommy Grant with some unfavorable circumstances intruding on his otherwise tranquil life in rural 1980’s Ohio, he retreats into the spell-binding Order of Cosmic Champions. When he discovers that the largely successful animated program and toy line is holding a nationwide ”Create-A-Character” contest where applicants submit their action figure designs, Tommy knows he has to enter as surely as he knows his own name. But when Tommy’s character design fails to win the contest, he finds his world crumbling from all sides. And there is only one way he knows to fix it.What follows is a whirlwind coming-of-age adventure of righting wrongs, overcoming perilous obstacles, confronting our inner demons, and challenging the limits of reality. In this waxing nostalgic and imaginative fantasy, readers will discover what excitement lies waiting when you take risks and conquer your fears. Only one question remains: In the final hour when you heed the call, the courage to give your all, will you stand or fall? The book is up for pre-order on Amazon right now, and if you want to learn more about Tommy and the Order OF Cosmic Champions, you can head over to their website and check it out! Theres a cool mini-comic book, some action figures that will be up for sale soon, and a lot of really great information to really suck the reader into the world that Tommy himself was pulled into! I hope you check out this book, but beware of Mechani-Ghoul! He may be watching you.

Duke Nukem Live-Action Movie

Looks like a DUKE NUKEM might finally be getting a movie!  Its funny.. I say FINALLY like I was ever even expecting to see a DUKE NUKEM MOVIE It wasn’t even something I really every thought would happen, but since its being made, im all like.. BRING IT ON!!! I absolutely LOVED playing Duke Nukem 3d back in the late 90s and even before that, I use to play the side scrolling game that was sorta like a cross between Super Mario and Contra.  That game was fun, but when Duke Nukem 3d came out!  I was all in on the DUKE NUKEM franchise..   It’s a real shame it took like 15 years for Duke Nukem Forever to finally  come out..  All us Nukem fans sorta fizzed out by the time they released that movie.. But still, if you a fan of Duke Nukem like me, let me know what you think about the creators of Cobra Kai deciding to make a movie based on the Duke Nukem game and who would YOU like to see play the lead character!  Let me know!

ALF Cartoons Coming To SHOUT Factory

If you’re a fan of 80s cartoons and especially if you like ALF, whose real name is Gordon Shumway, is the alien from Melmac that had his own TV show that ran from 1986 to 1990.   You also  might remember there were 2 ALF cartoons that came on Saturday Mornings on the NBC cartoon lineup.   ALF The Animated series and ALF Tales. Well,  Shout! Factory TV , which already hs the ALF TV show on its streaming service recently announced that it will be streaming the cartoon spinoffs starting in July. Also one other thing I thought was funny is that ALF has a twitter account and there is some rumor that ALF might appear in the Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 movie – don’t know if this will happen, but when the director James Gunn was asked about it, he said.. Ya Never Know.  Also one other thing I thought was funny is that ALF has a twitter account and there is some rumor that ALF might appear in the Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 movie – don’t know if this will happen, but when the director James Gunn was asked about it, he said..
